There are 100 ocular prostheses in this antique display case. The case is about 12 3/4 inches wide by 11 5/8 inches deep. The eyes each fit into their own compartment and the glass lid allows for convenient display. There once was an angled frame back to support and display at an angle on a table surface, but it is long gone unfortunately. Case with general wear and tear with age as you can see in the images. The majority of the eyes likely date to the 1800s with some possibly being from the early 1900s, I'm not sure how to tell honestly. Please use your own judgement and study all pictures.
Selling as-is: Condition is "Used" and show appropriate age from use. No chips or cracks to the eyes. Some eyes with some abnormalities to glass, but no major issues at all. They are antique and each one tells its own story with time. Not one is alike and each are unique works of art made in glass, with a variety of iris and sclera (whites of the eyes) colors, veins, shapes and sizes.
This would be a great gift for an optometrist, ophthalmologist, collector of medical antiques or oddities, perfect for display at your next Halloween party, great for use in fine art projects or jewelry making, etc. Certainly a conversation starter if nothing else!
